The Kurdistan Society Celebrates Its Official Launch in London
The Kurdistan Society was officially launched at a dinner held at the Travellers Club in London on 28 April. Generously sponsored by the Kurdistan Regional Government Representation in the United Kingdom, the event brought together more than 40 distinguished guests for an evening of conversation, culture and Kurdish music.
The evening was chaired by Dr Gareth Stansfield. H.E. Safeen Dizayee, Head of the Kurdistan Regional Government’s Department of Foreign Relations, attended as the guest speaker and delivered the principal address.

Also in attendance was H.E. Karwan Jamal Tahir, the Kurdistan Regional Government’s High Representative to the United Kingdom, whose Representation sponsored the launch dinner.
The event marked the formal beginning of the Kurdistan Society and provided an opportunity to introduce its purpose: bringing together people with a shared interest in Kurdistan, its people, culture, history and place in the wider world.

Guests also enjoyed a memorable performance by the internationally acclaimed musician Hajar Zahawy. Playing the daf, an instrument with an important place in Kurdish musical tradition, he brought the distinctive sound and spirit of Kurdish culture to the evening.
The Kurdistan Society is deeply grateful to the KRG Representation in the United Kingdom for its generous sponsorship and support. The Society also extends its warmest thanks to the speakers, performers and guests who made the launch such a special occasion and a fitting beginning to its future programme.
